1. Like other people are saying, practice more! I'm going to look for improv classes over the summer.
2. Invest in an XLR microphone and preamp. Right now I'm looking to get the Audio Technica at2020 and Scarlett Solo.
3. Audition and try to get cast in a project.

I've already met most of my initial goals. Got cast in something (which technically the news came before New Year's Day, so it really was a 2017 goal). Got cast in MORE things over the last month (and mostly from this board too!). My immediate goal is to finish the projects I currently have to work on.
My next milestone goal will be to get paid work of any sort. It'd mean a lot to me if it could happen by March 3rd due to personal reasons, but if it doesn't, it doesn't I guess.
The second round of Now Voice This! begins next week and I'm also making it a goal to make it to at least stage 2 or later, since I didn't get past stage 1 last time.

My new goal is to stand my ground regarding rates, knowing when to speak up so I and my peers don't take advantage of for industry projects. Discussing money stuff with studios and clients is honestly really scary, but it's important that we all stand together especially when so many others before me have worked hard to establish those standards.

As a 2i2 man myself, all I have to say is, solid investment!
Anywho, I have a few goals, but I play it moment-to-moment. My biggest goal is to have some form of representation from San Francisco before the end of the year. I'm kicking auditions into overtime so I can have a wider range of projects beyond video games under my belt before then.

Coming back to this now because I need to reassure myself that I still fulfilled at least one of my three goals (finish the projects I currently had been cast in). I didn't meet either of the other two (still possible for the former, though with only two business days left until 03/03, I highly doubt it's happening). In addition, I didn't meet several non-VO related goals (as well as an extremely unlikely VO-related one that would've required me nailing a very specific role) I had and it's all just kinda taking an emotional toll on my well being, especially over the last day since a lot of this is kinda hitting me all at once. I suppose my new VO-specific goal now is to go back to square one again, recognize my limits in both skill and exposure as a beginner, and just continuing to audition for whatever comes by, while crossing my fingers and hoping that my first substantial project in terms of career, payment, etc. comes by sooner rather than later (or never). That said, having one of the clients I recorded for telling me how much they appreciated me helping make their dream project a reality really touched me and made me feel truly accomplished, which isn't an easy feat when I'm constantly stressing about how I have no money.

Welcome to the stressing-about-money club---I don't think that feeling ever truly goes away when you're an actor, unless you're one of those lucky people making six figures, LOL. I've been voice acting since 2004 (professionally since 2011 give or take) and am still not full-time
