I always do this a lot while reading/talking(socially) which makes me sound monotone. I'm wondering how to get rid of this bad habit? I know that breathing deeply helps and engaging myself(body movement) but I still sound the same. After a couple of minutes I can't(obviously) speak and struggle to keep my mind focus because I'm thinking how to not sound boring. I'm a guy, by the way.

Air flow! Engage your throat more. Open up your throat lower and allow your vocal cords to do the talking.
If you practice speaking in a clear, projected voice, it'll come more naturally. I'm betting you're used to talking to people very close to you, or very quietly. For example, if you're speaking to friends in a shop, boutique or library. Get into the habit of speaking to someone as if they were halfway across a room. (Project a little further away - you don't have to be loud, just project a bit.)
Once you get into that habit, vocal fry will go away. It's a good habit to get out of anyway - too much fry can cause throat problems like vocal nodules and polyps.

Also, and this is key: stop tightening your throat so much. Relax when you speak. = )
