I am trying to use Zoom for connecting with other people for live, in booth direction, coaching, group courses, etc. and am having a tough time. If anyone can help me I will be very grateful to you.
I am using a super Neumann TLM49 mic, a PreSonus Audiobox iOne USB interface, Reaper 5.74, and Windows 7 on a PC. Nice internet connection wirelessly to a router and then to the net. No problems so far.
I can connect with someone using Zoom (sending a link to them via email), video portion works great but I keep hearing intermittent loud static on the audio, then the audio drops out altogether, reconnects, drops out again, etc. I need to have Reaper open and a track armed to use the mic and need that anyway because I may need to record what is being said into the mic for directed sessions. It looks like the problem is between Reaper and Zoom. I made sure my Windows bitrate and sample rate settings for audio for both recording and playback are the same and these are also set to the be same in Reaper.
In Zoom settings I ensure that the audio and video sources are set for the Audiobox iOne and so that is OK.
But no matter what I do, I cannot get the intermittent static and dropping out to stop. Any ideas or advice?
Thanks,
Michael

I've never used Zoom, so I can't really help troubleshoot directly, but I have a couple ideas you could try.
1. Have you checked to see if this issue is with Zoom only, or if it persists with another video/call service like Skype or Discord. (Sorry, as I said I'm unfamiliar with Zoom, so I don't know if it has features those other programs lack.)
2. Do you need perfect audio quality for the call itself, or can you connect with a spare mic or even the internal mic on a second device (such as your phone or a tablet or a second computer) to use Zoom while you record the actual finished work in the first computer using Reaper?

Everything works OK with Skype and so I know it is something with Zoom. Yes, I need really good audio quality as my use of Zoom is for numerous coaching sessions and classes. Thanks for responding!
