Hey guys been struggling with this for some time now. but does anyone know how to get rid of ghost static in audacity? I kept getting a lot static background feed n all of my recordings, one day i got frustrated and just unplugged the mic, only to see audacity was still recording noise... and no mics were enabled...
I can't for the life of me to get rid of it. =(

The only thing I can think of is to make sure the input is correct. It may be recording over your computer's mic instead of what you have plugged in. Have everything set up and ready to go before opening Audacity, otherwise the mic won't show up as an input. Audacity itself shouldn't be adding any hiss.
The other thing that might be causing an issue is if you are running the mic through another software before going to Audacity. I know voicemeeter adds in a background hiss, although I'm not familiar with other software. If you have something like this in your chain, cut it out and see if that fixes the issue.
