Hello everyone! My name is Zane Sexton, the creator of a noir audio drama called The Shadowy Slicker.
The Shadowy Slicker is an upcoming noir audio drama that focuses on the life of Amory DeWolfe, an anti-hero and freelance criminal who is only out to make money. The audio drama is set in 1967 Cleveland, Ohio, where only the crooked survives. The tone is dark and grimy, so I need characters who embody loose morality in this post-Casablanca world. The world is relentless and cold, much like Ohioan winters.
This is a love letter to film noir and it’s kin. Noir has always been one of my favorite genres in any media due to their loner heroes, dark and intriguing storylines, and suspense. The style of the Shadowy Slicker is full of Amory’s narration and unique descriptions, as well as era-appropriate jazz.
While the plot is simple enough, the dialogue and tone enrich the narrative, so I need people who will not just read their lines, but emotes charm into every sentence.
I am casting for a plethora of people, for both the main characters and minor characters, along with any extras. Only audition if you are 18 years old or older due to liability issues.
The deadline is February 3rd, 2018 at 12 A.M EST. On that date, I will release the second round of casting for the other characters I need for the season. All decisions will be made and the participants notified by February 10th, 2018.
Take a look at the audition document for more information.
Hello everyone, my name is Zane Sexton. I run a show on my college campus called "Yabbering with Zane," where I interview people, play music, and make some wacky jokes.
For this Friday (tomorrow), I need a Frosty the Snowman voice. I'm not entirely sure how he sounds, so I'm open to a lot of interpretations. Because I'm a tired college student, I have been unable to write my show's script until recently. What I need is a someone to record their lines and quickly send it to me.
And because I'm a poor college student, I'm afraid that this job is unpaid. However, you'll be live on a college radio show and it can be a great boost to any resume! The audition lines are below, but it is NOT the entirety of what I need.
After you are accepted, I will send you the entirety of the script, which will need to be recorded and sent to me before 4 p.m EST on December 8th.
Frosty: Happy birthday! Hey, I said my first words. But... But snowmen can't talk.
Frosty: Whew! If I stay in this studio much longer, I'll really make a splash in the world. Can you turn down the heat?
Frosty: Of course I'm alive. It's a neat thing to happen to a nice guy like me.
Zane: But there's no snow here! It's Ohio, snow doesn't exactly go according to the schedule here. How are you here in snowman form?
Frosty: The spirit of Christmas!
Zane: But how does -
Frosty: The spirit of Christmas!
Zane: I mean, does someone put the hat on you every year or -
Frosty (screaming): The... SPIRIT... of CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
Zane: Okay, okay. Geez.
- You must have a professional-grade mic (no background noise, pops, etc.)
- Good audio quality
- If you are picked, I will quickly send you the entire script.
- Put in the Subject headline "Frosty Audition - Your Name" and make the audio a WAV file. Only send in your best take.
The deadline is tomorrow (December 8) at 12:00 p.m EST. It is likely that whoever auditions first (granted they have good audio quality/impersonation skills), will get the part. If that is the case, I will update this thread immediately.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
THIS IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS.

Hello everyone, my name is Zane and I have a show every Friday night on a college radio station called "Yabbering with Zane." On the show, I play music and sometimes interview fictional characters.
Because I'm a tired college student, I have been unable to write my show's script until tonight. What I need is a Santa Clause impersonator to record their lines and quickly send it to me.
Because of the urgency of the deadline and the number of lines I need, I'm offering $5 for the job. The audition lines are below, but it is NOT the entirety of what I need.
SANTA: Of course not! He’s resting for the big night! What, you think reindeer can just go on a 24-hour odyssey through perilous mountains, roads, and evil last-minute- Christmas shoppers without tremendous energy? I took a cab in order to tell you this message. Play Christmas music! You are required by Santa law to do so!
SANTA: Nonsense. That is a Ho-Ho-horrible excuse. Do you want to end up on the naughty list or not?
SANTA: I met Elvis a few times. When he was eight, he wanted a kazoo to play music, but I gave him a guitar by accident. I guess it turned out okay in the end, though.
SANTA: Oh, they’ll believe in me when they get much older. That way, even when they’re old and senile, when all their kids abandoned them, they can at least expect a new pair of socks every Christmas. Anyway, be good everyone! I gotta go.
Requirements: - You must have a professional-grade mic (no background noise, pops, etc.) - Good audio quality - A Paypal account, as this is how I'll be paying you. - If you are picked, I will quickly send you the entire script. - Put in the Subject headline "Santa Clause Audition - Your Name" and make the audio a WAV file. Only send in your best take.
The deadline is today (December 1st) at 4:30 p.m. It is likely that whoever auditions first (granted they have good audio quality/impersonation skills), will get the part. If that is the case, I will update this thread immediately.
Please email me at email@example.com
This is now closed.

Hello everyone, my name is Zane Sexton, the creator/producer/editor of The Shadowy Slicker, a noir audio drama whose first episode is set to be released on November 11.
I'm working on a quickie advertisement for my audio drama before it's released to hype it. For this, I need a male voice actor really fast.
While this project is unpaid, I will credit you. You will also be guaranteed a spot in the series if you so choose.
Microphone quality is essential. All audio must not have grading background noises, clipping issues, fans, etc. It must also be at least semi-professional (ie, no smartphones or gaming headset mics). Obviously, you must also have reliable recording software (Audacity, Garage Band, etc.)
The deadline is October 31 at 5pm EST. Email two complete takes in the WAV format at firstname.lastname@example.org, subject heading "SS Voiceover - Your Name."
Here are the lines:
(saying it to yourself) 1960’s Cleveland, Ohio. An era where lakes are caught on fire. An era of war both foreign and domestic. Cleveland’s a loaded gun, waiting for someone to pull the trigger
(Taking a sip of a drink) Oh, hello there. I didn’t notice you standing over there. Come, sit down for a second. (pause).
C’mon I won’t bite.
Hey, did you hear about this Amory DeWolfe guy. Some of my colleagues call him … The Shadowy Slicker. I’m sure you’ve heard about him. (pause) No? Oh, well, then I have to tell you about an exciting opportunity if you’re in love with assholes smoking cigars, crisp shadows in the alleyway, or witty remarks over the state of our affairs.
His adventures (if you can call them that) follows his ass trying to survive in this post-Casablanca world of gangsters, riots, and murder in a time of nothing BUT gangsters, riots and murder. Y’know what I’m talking about, right? (laughs) Oh, of course you do.
Well, anyway, if you want to hear my sorry ass drink and complain, as with all great noir anti-heroes, listen on November 11th, 2017 at bars or jazz clubs or something.
I’ve heard of some of those new-found bars. I would recommend Soundcloud on Audio Avenue, they serve great Old Fashioneds. My good friend has raved about this one club called Google Play, which sounds like some kind of sex dungeon to me, but whatever. There’s this noodle place called Podbean that’s not bad. And there’s another one that had a Western name, something like High Noon…. Oh, no, wait, it was Itunes! Now,, that’s a weird name for a bar. I guess they play old tunes or something. Go check out my show wherever your podcast needs are met.
And if you want to donate to my drinking addiction, you can go to this store called Patreon. Here, let me give you the address. (Pulls wallet out). Okay, the address is Patreon.com/Shadowyslicker. You memorized that? Good. I need my bourbon money.
Well, you’re busy, so I’ll let you go for now. Tune in to The Shadowy Slicker on November 11th for hard-core noir. See y’all soon.

Hello, everyone. My name is Zane Sexton, the writer, producer, editor, and creator of The Shadowy Slicker. It is an upcoming noir audio drama that focuses on the life of Amory DeWolfe, an anti-hero and freelance criminal who is only out to make money. The audio drama is set in 1967 Cleveland, Ohio, where only the crooked survives. The tone is dark and grimy, so I need characters who embody loose morality in this post-Casablanca world. The world is unrelentless and cold, much like Ohio winters.
For episode two, I need two females (major) and two males (one major, one minor).
- Microphone quality is essential. All audio must not have grading background noises, clipping issues, fans, etc. It must also be at least semi-professional (ie, no smartphones or gaming headset mics). Obviously, you must also have reliable recording software (Audacity, Garage Band, etc.)
- This is NOT a paid position right now. You will be credited on the official website and at the end of the episode.
- I want to reiterate that this project will take a very long time to finish. I may also ask for re-takes or new lines from time to time. Communication is very important to me because I want to make the best quality audio drama I possible can.
- Please read carefully: In order to audition, put your best takes into one WAV file titled “CharacterName_YourName.wav” and email it to email@example.com with the subject heading “Applicant for ‘Character Name’ - ‘Your Name.’ If you have a resume and/or a demo reel, please attach it as well. (Any emails sent without the correct title or subject heading will not be considered.)
- The deadline for both voice actors will be on November 18th, 2017 at 9pm EST.
If you have any questions, please email me at the above address and I will gladly answer them to the best of my ability. Good luck everyone.
Bean: Welcome to the site!

Harry Vance: If most anime work is supposed to be non-union, why do I see a bunch of anime productions like Madoka Magica where they have SAG-AFTRA talent in it? Is it that those anime productions I've seen are the exception to the rule or is there another reason?
Jan 20, 2018 1:17:58 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: A lot of actors have to do non-union work as well in order to pay the bills, since so many projects are going non-union these days (particularly anime and JRPGs). Techncially you're not *supposed* to but since stuff like dubbing is very low on SAG's priori
Jan 20, 2018 15:33:56 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: ty list to prosecute, most people don't get in trouble for it (although some use a fake name just to be safe0
Jan 20, 2018 15:34:10 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: I've done a few union anime shows here and there but they are the exception not the norm, usually because they have to get or bring back an A-list voice actor. (you have to be a pretty big name to demand a show go union for you or else they'll just pick
Jan 20, 2018 15:35:15 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: someone else). Also a lot of anime is done in Texas which is a right-to-work state so they don't really have to worry about union stuff there.
Jan 20, 2018 15:35:40 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: If you're a high profile talent who works on prelay animation, Western games, and other much higher paying stuff, you may be able to survive on SAG-AFTRA work alone (or I believe for on-camera work, it's usually union anyway). But if the majority of stuff
Jan 20, 2018 15:36:52 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: you have the opportunity to audition for is anime and JRPGs, you kinda have to be willing to do non-u stuff or you're not going to work very often.
Jan 20, 2018 15:37:11 GMT 9.5
LadyStardust: TBH there are a lot of projects out there that *should* be union, but aren't. high profile games etc.
