soundcloud.com/user-289642761/demo-reelHello! I'm starting to get serious in the idea of voice acting, so I decided to make my demo reel! Any and all feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Clever writing and decent acting, but for a demo reel you want to showcase characters you've done for past projects* or the more likely characters that suit your voice*. You need to find your niche because I don't doubt that you can play a villain character or a hero character - BUT if I compare your demo to others (which most casting people do) you're going to lose. If you want to do those characters, get better at playing them - it was odd to me that for an evil dude you need that "type" of gravely voice or for a heroic dude all of sudden your voice gets more grander or verbose.
Focus on the acting and character not the type of voice you're going to use.*
Also your nasalness(?) bleeds into your other characters, open up the back of your throat (by relaxing) and lift your soft pallet up. It'll help prevent that and allows more sound to travel throughout your mouth.

Hopefully none of what I have to say comes off as too harsh. First thing right off the bat I'd say is that the "Hello this is Kyle and this is my Demo Reel" comes off as unprofessional. This could just be me being knit-picky, but you gotta have a really strong opening. Often it's said that the first voice needs to your best voice because directors will stop listening the second they aren't impressed by your performance. So if you're already causing mixed feelings just at the slate, that's definitely an issue. I'd say open up with something along the lines of "Kyle Stevens Voice Acting Demo Reel 2017" or "Kyle Stevens Character Reel" or heck maybe even just "Kyle Stevens". Second thing I notice is the lack of background music. Background music (as long as it isn't too distracting) will strengthen your Demo Reel making each voice all the more powerful. Would you be more impressed by a manly knight shouting, or a manly knight shouting as intense battle music plays and sword clashes go off in the background? Speaking of shouting, your audio peaked whenever you were too loud, for make sure to turn down the gain on your microphone for louder voices and turn up the gain for quieter voices. The volume levels were also uneven between voices. What I will say though is the performances were actually all pretty good though for the most part and you kept the Demo Reel nice and short which many people are incapable of doing (I'm definitely can't do it haha). Although a few voices could use improvement like more emotion (there's always room for improvement since you want to get your Demo Reel to be absolutely perfect since you only get once chance at a first impression with whoever views your voice acting). Once again hopefully none of that came off as harsh, I just know I myself always appreciate constructive criticism so that I can do a better and better job each year with my Demo Reel.

Thank you both for the feedback! I'm still learning the editing and what not for samples for my demo, so this was a quick set up for a start (not an excuse -- just how it is right now) but I'll totally take these and work with it. Many thanks again!
