Hi folks, Mark here of Screen 7, formerly a VAA member who sought talent for our games Tales & Downfall. Other titles we've released are typically point & click adventures, including The Apotheosis Project, The Cat Lady, The Samaritan Paradox.
We're releasing a budget sci-fi point & click game called Doc Apocalypse (for Windows PC), originally released by the Italian developer Midian Design in 2012. This deluxe version includes voices amongst other things. All parts are covered and almost all of them are recorded now, all but one.
PARTS
======
Eli "The Oracle". Male, 30-40 years, african-american, 109 lines total
Several months after the "apocalypse", a man called Eli (who self-servingly calls himself The Oracle) stands around the piles of debris and rubbish and offers our hero Doc Apocalypse some important information on the events of the last few months (whilst Doc was hiding underground).
I'm looking for someone who can pull off a "black guy" voice, like Will Smith, D Washington, or more energetic dudes like L Jackson, Chris Rock. Remember this guy is only "The Oracle" because he decided it. There's a strong hint of "con-man" in there, but one with a conscience. Probably a bit of a "playa" before the apocalypse...! That said, the guy is still quite well spoken. There is no afro-american lingo or anything. But we should definitely get a hint of one of the names mentioned above in a voice, not to sound racist, but that distinctive "black guy" vibe (which can definitely be achieved in voice).
Obama (or similar). The (former) President. 13 lines total
Additionally, if anyone can do a decent enough Barack Obama impersonation, we also need you! I doubt you really need much info on who that is and how they would sound... As things stand a direct soundalike would be great. If we can't find that then we may have the Eli VA do something on that front.
Other VA talent in this game includes Jonnie Hurn, Lynsey Frost, Jesse Gunn, Jesse Lowther, David Lanzafame, Stephen McLeod, Olivia J Brown.

Your samples will be judged on voice quality and audio quality, so please deliver them as you would deliver the final recording, where possible!

[ELI45] I left New York because of the Militia. When I saw them with my own eyes, killing babies, ransacking places they shouldn't have been ransacking, under the 'New Laws', I decided to get the heck out.
For Obama, please try at least 1 of the following lines:
[PRES2] It's been twelve months of catastrophe and struggle. Worldwide economic crisis brought the planet to its knees...
[PRES3] Droughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, one scourge after another, and in a few hours, as you know, even our Sun may cause any number of problems.
[PRES4] Humankind does not deserve all this.
Deadline for sample submissions: 31st July
Deadline for final recordings: Mid-August
AGREEMENT
===========
You'll be asked to sign an online contract, and payment will be made typically within 30 days of finishing your recordings (or at the end of the next month). Payment will be negotiated in email but as it currently stands Obama will be £20 (our minimum) for 13 lines and Eli about £50-60. You will of course get a credit and free copy of the game. You'll also be considered for future projects. Please only apply if you have a PayPal account, we do not wire payments, sorry.
