I'm due for a solo adventure and I've decided that I could travel to Los Angeles for a weekend... so long as I do something acting related to make use of my time.
I'm thinking of taking Crispin Freeman's L.A. classes, but dates have yet to be posted and the classes sell out fast when they're finally on sale. I'm subscribed to the mailing list and am keeping an eye on the page.
However, I'm looking for backup options and was wondering if anyone is aware of any weekend intensives, one-off classes, or other acting-related activities I could do while I visit Los Angeles. Was hoping to do this at the end of January next month but I haven't committed any funds to anything yet.

You can check out VoiceTrax West "meet the pros" nights... it's less of a workshop and more of a chance to read in front of and receive feedback from a casting director. I think they cost between $75 and $100, usually. They sometimes sell out quickly so I can't guarantee you'll be able to book one but they might have something available if you get on it asap.
[edit] I overlooked the fact that you said "weekend"...it's going to be very difficult to do much at all if you're only in town for a weekend, as the majority of casting director workshops and such seem to be on weekday nights.

Adventures in Voice Acting is having their Beginner and Intermediate workshops at Bang Zoom! Studios in Burbank on Saturday, January 13th and Sunday, January 14th. They usually come around again every month or so if you decide you'd rather come at a different time. www.facebook.com/adventuresinvoiceacting/Lately, Crispin Freeman has been sending out a "heads up" email to his mailing list a couple of days before putting his next batch of classes on sale. If you can be on a computer right around the time he releases the classes, you usually can get a spot. The in-person classes generally don't sell out as fast as the online ones. Good luck!

The only reason I'm looking at a weekend trip is for Crispin's LA classes so if I don't make it for those sign ups, I could always look at some other intensives if they're on the weekdays. (Btw, I'd love to buy you a coffee when I visit Burbank) Adventures in Voice Acting is having their Beginner and Intermediate workshops at Bang Zoom! Thanks for the tip! I looked at the website and I'll have to keep them in mind for maybe February since I have prior plans that weekend. Also, I'm a little hesitant since I already took two "beginner" voice acting in anime classes here in Texas with Sonny Strait and Chris Rager so I'm not exactly eager to take another beginner class. I'm waiting for those mailing list emails since I already signed up for them. It's good to hear that the in-person classes don't sell out as fast as the online ones do. Hopefully I'll have the time to sign up the day of when they're open.
