Hi all!
It's now been officially over one year since the VAC has been open, and we're starting to grow (yay!) A while back we'd opened applications for new moderators, but some of them are not able to be as active these days and it's not fair for only a few people to shoulder the burden of quality checking audition threads. That being said, we are looking for one additional person (or possibly two) to add to the team.
As a moderator, your main duties would be to check the new threads on the audition boards when possible to ensure they comply with the rules (posted in the correct section, including a deadline and email address, etc.) You would also have access to moderate the general areas of the board, although there tend to be less issues on those areas aside from the occasional spambot. If you turn out to be a great fit, you may be promoted to admin as well.
Here are some of the qualities we look for in moderators:
If you're curious how active you have to be, please note that there is a lot of flexibility on this because we are aware that everyone has lives and more pressing commitments. The VAC is a labor of love for everyone involved and many times real life and paid work has to take priority, and that's okay! (However, if you plan to be away for more than a couple weeks at a time, we'd appreciate a heads-up. Not logging into the boards for a month or more will result in automatic removal of moderator status unless you have an extenuating circumstance.) If you end up being chosen and it turns out being a moderator isn't right for you, you're free to resign at any time with no hard feelings---we just ask that you let us know first, of course!
Please remember that even if you are not interested in applying as a moderator, you can always use the "report post" feature to alert the team of issues that need attention.
If you are interested in being considered, please fill out the following application and send it as a PM to me (LadyStardust) with the subject "Moderator Application" by 11 pm PST on January 15. Your answers may be shared with other members of the team to determine if you'd be a good fit. Please allow 2-3 days for confirmation of receipt.
1. Why do you want to be a moderator for the VAC?
2. What qualities and/or skills do you possess that would make you a good moderator?
3. Do you have any experience in moderating other forums or services, or doing similar leadership-related work? If so, please describe.
4. What is a *realistic* estimate of how often you check the boards? (Obviously, this can vary from week to week, but just give a general idea of how often you think you'd be on):
5. About how long have you been a member of any sort of online voice acting forums? (This includes the old VAC, the VAA, CastingCall, Facebook communities, etc.)
6. How would you handle a situation in which someone posts a casting call that looks good/organized overall but does not provide a deadline or email address?
7. How would you handle a situation in which someone is using their audition thread to cast actors first-come first-serve?
8. What is your #1 suggestion for how to improve the community going forward?
Make sure you send your application as a PM, not as a post reply to this thread! Thank you and good luck!

Here are some of the qualities we look for in moderators:
- Mature, level-headed, not affected by personal bias
- Friendly and compassionate, but able to enforce rules (and be firm when necessary in the case of repeated violations)
- Team-oriented mindset (able to work with other moderators, able to accept decisions being overturned by an admin if the wrong call is made, providing input when necessary on changes of rules or features)
- Good grasp on the English language and able to write with overall proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
- Knowledgeable to some extent about the general workings of an online voice acting community/board posting etiquette
- Works to uphold the standards of the VAC and essentially present a good "face" of our community to voice actors and producers who post here, especially those who are new to the board
