also Kira is a butt
EDIT: Okay, so maybe I should at least attempt to do an actual formal introduction, considering my history here.
Hello everyone! I'm Sean Chiplock, aka sonicmega on many, many different social media outlets.
Like Kira (the Administrator of this revamped website), I am a relatively silent but long-time member of the VAC, in fact having been a part of it for almost a decade as of the end of this year. It was my mentor (who some may remember as "D-Mac") who first dragged my starry-eyed butt over here, and now many of the original members who I came to know - such as Kira, "Hnilmik", "Tomamoto", etc. - have gone from being eager students to actual established professionals with some pretty neato roles in our resumes. Don't let that transition fool you though, we're definitely still learning and adapting ourselves to this ever-changing market.
I've only recently started hitting the bigger leagues in terms of auditions, but you may have heard me through a few venues in the meantime! Most recently, I've played the lead role of Rean Schwarzer in Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, although most gamers know me as Rash the Battletoad in Killer Instinct alongside Edward Bosco (another veteran from VAC's past, and now-professional). However, I've also voiced various characters across anime shows such as One Punch Man, Gundam: IBO, Sword Art Online, HunterxHunter, MAGI, and many others!
My life has gone through a lot of advancements, challenges, and improvements ever since my first post on these boards - I've graduated high school, graduated COLLEGE, gotten engaged(!), moved out to California all the way from Michigan, and somehow moved from watching anime on Toonami while playing Neopets at 2 am to being VOICES on the newer installments of shows coming to Toonami...which is somehow still going strong! Sadly I can't say the same for Neopets.
I have always been an avid supporter of the Voice Acting Club; it provided the stepping stone and collaboration network that was so integral to myself and many of my friends being able to take this hobby of ours more seriously and turning it into something we actually pay our bills with. That's not to say you can't come here looking for something silly and relaxing to be a part of on the casual side, but I truly believe that if you're seeking opportunities to expand your skills, learn more about the craft, and really develop yourself as a voiceover artist, this is one of the best resources available on the World Wide Web right now in terms of working directly with fellow performers.
Relax, read up, take notes, and enjoy yourself. As a wise man once said, "Where there's toast, they pinch back."
