Is it ok to divert from audition lines slightly if at all when auditioning? I understand scripts are written to be read but there are times where actors divert or try a few diff ways of saying a line and some times its better. I only ask because Ill be recording and then ill just say words that aren't there and it flows better (sometimes) or maybe certain words are harder for me to string together (I need to just get better am i right? lol)
And I'm in no way suggesting just sending in a recording with whatever I feel like saying. Keeping the meaning, tone, and over all context should be untouched

Unless it's an obvious typo like "I going to" instead of "I'm going to", you should send in a take of the line exactly as it's written down. You can always do another take with some slight improv if you feel like it'll sound better or more natural. It's up to you, but definitely give one exact read for certain.

Always send one take as-written (unless it’s an obvious typo/poor grammar) and then send an additional take with the more conversational rewrite if you feel that the writing in the line is poor enough to impact your performance.
Note: it’s generally okay to use contractions even if not written (for example “He’s” instead of “he is”
