Who's ready for a way too wordy introduction? I hope its YOU! Cause everything I say always has WAY too many words!
I'm Eight and I've been wanting to dip into VA for an embarrassingly long time. I'm here now, so I'll skip the details.
I'm currently trying to just absorb everything I can about this field, but mostly, I need direction. Guidance. Information. I need someone, anyone, everyone to point in any direction at all and say "Yeah, if you go that way, take a left on Julian Street and go up til you see the third gas station on the right, that's the area that you want to be in.". Honestly, it doesn't matter WHO points me WHERE, any direction is better than standing still!
Currently I just want to get a feel for the community, I want to make connections, I want to learn anything. That's where the GPS says I am right now. Share with me your stories, I love stories! Tell me your successes and follies, your tips and tricks, do's and don't do's and do more do's! I'm here to figure stuff out.
I have zero official voice acting experience, but I know that you wanna ACT, emote, enunciate, explore and occasionally alliterate. I've put in a great deal of time reading all the standard "Break Into Voice Acting" hullabaloo, so we can skip the basics.
I also spend any moment of time when I'm breathing also making any number of noises with my mouth, talking, barking, chirping, whistling, reciting, reiterating, just.... talking. Practicing, some would say. Being obnoxious, to others.
Right now, I just want to get in there, y'know? Get that experience, do it for funsies, learn the "how" part. I want to see what it's like to be directed, to be asked "Can you do it like this?" and see if I can get it done. I'll also be learning all about the mechanicals of this setup I've got, not real fancy kit, just one of those "VA Pro Level Beginner Bundle" things, preamp, mic, monitors, everything an easily excitable beginner like me needs.
______________
That's all I can think of right now as for my reasons for being here. But I'm also quite personable, or so I'm told, when I'm engaged. So, if you have questions about anything at all, let me know. I'm plenty tech savvy, and I have a LOT of "been there, done that" experience. Oh I've done so many jobs, from being a shelf stock monkey to management in retail stores, to a keyboard operator in a cube farm, I'm a certified pet nutritionist, and currently I've been a carpenter for something like 5 years. So yeah, if you've got questions, I may be able to answer them, or at the very least, give my two cents on a subject.
In the meantime, I'll just be floating around here and there I'm sure. Used to be a bigtime forum guy back in the day but these days I mostly just keep to my corner. Mostly.
So, now you're done reading my ramblings and half-formed thoughts, and I'm done half-forming and typing them. FOR NOW.
