Hey guys! James Dahlbender here and welcome to the casting call for my music team.
FAQ
#1. What are you looking for your team?
We're looking for some session musicians who would play some instruments live.
#2. What do you mean by playing an instrument live?
You play a physical musical instrument and record it.
#3. Do I need to know how to read music?
It's recommended that you do so you know what notes to play, the tempo, etc.
#4. Do you make the MIDIs?
I can't take full credit on that. I compose the music. My friend, Atsnoma, makes the MIDI files. I send in the sheet music, he sends in the MIDI file, I do some adjustments, make the sheets for the session musicians, and add in the sounds from my library. I also add in some musical phrases, and do some additional playing.
#5. What programs do you use to make music?
I use Musescore for sheet music and right now, my DAW for music is REAPER. I'm planning to upgrade to Digital Performer soon.
#6. Where can I contact you?
I'm on Twitter, and Discord.

3. Absolutely no troll auditions.
4. Have some fun.

Instruments Needed
English Horn
An English horn or cor anglais is a reed instrument related to the oboe, but with a darker timbre like a viola. Popular in Antonin Dvorak's New World Symphony and Rossini's Call of the Cows.
Penny Whistle
It's a little tin whistle that's common in Irish music. Like meadow dancing, river dancing, etc.
Whistling
Normally it's handled by the composer, but I'm not that good at whistling, so that's where you come in. You make a small circle with your mouth and blow. Simple, but it takes practice.
Didgeridoo
A didgeridoo is an Australian instrument used to make weird sounds. Also can be used in disco music. You can use PVC Piping or a Paper towel roll to make a decent didgeridoo.
Mandolin
A mandolin is a descendant of a medieval lute. It's usually an 8 stringed instrument and it commonly has four courses of doubled metal strings tuned in unison.
Ukelele
A ukelele is a small guitar from Hawaii with four nylon strings. It's commonly used in Hawaiian/Polynesian music but also applies to stock music.
Electric Guitar
It's common in modern music like pop, country, rock, etc. It's basically a guitar that you hook to an amp and you pick or pluck the strings.
Electric Bass
Like its relative, the electric guitar, it's common in modern music like rock, pop, country, etc. It's commonly layered with the electric guitar to make it pop in the mix, and provides a neat bass line.
Fiddle
Now you may be thinking, isn't a fiddle just a violin? Well, it's true. It's called like that on country music, bluegrass, etc.
College Snare Drum
For those who don't know, a college snare drum is basically a snare that sounds more like the ones in a marching band rather than a drumkit. Here's some references:

Weird Penguin-Sounding Instrument
Nothing much is known about this one, let alone sounding like a penguin. Here's reference to get the idea.

NOTE: Feel free to improvise with something you have that'll work for it.
Slapaphone
It's a tuned percussion instrument made of PVC Piping and you use rubber spatulas to make a bomp sound.
