Q: I have an indie game project that is currently being crowdfunded. There will be payment for voice actors if we reach our funding goals. Should I post auditions in the paid or unpaid projects forum?
A: While this can be a tricky situation to determine, the general rule of thumb is: only post your audition in the "PAID" section if you are able to reasonably guarantee payment to the voice actors. If you are expecting them to record for free but they may get paid as a bonus if the game does well enough, put it in the "unpaid" section but do feel free to make a note of the possibility of future payment. If you need the actors to record a quick demo or Kickstarter video for free, BUT any full-game content will be paid---and only recorded if payment is guaranteed---you may use the "paid" section. As always, please be clear in your post about what the payment terms are so that actors may make their own decisions about whether or not to audition for these projects.
**Please note that in order to list your project in the "paid projects" section, compensation must be monetary. "Copy and credit", "trade for services", "exposure", etc does not count as monetary compensation.
