VAC, Happy New Year!
I hope everyone is doing well and staying strong and motivated in these times.
I'm looking for help with one of my projects. This is for audiobook narration (literary fiction). Even though this is narration, it requires voice acting and the ability to embody the character's mindset and psychology.
I am in need of one male voice actor to provide the voiceover for one of the characters in my novelette. It is a story of about 14,000 words. The average reader takes about 53 minutes to read 14,000 words, so it's not a long book, and the chapters are short.
The compensation for this is $350 (USD) via CashApp, Zelle, or Venmo.
I need someone who is professional, consistent, and dependable and who can complete the recording (narrate the book) in 7 days. This goes without saying; you must be capable of reading and bringing the words to life with your delivery. This means you must be able to do simple and natural narration while also performing, finding the balance between the two without being overly dramatic.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Concerning the role:
This is a classic vampire story with a few gothic elements and an existentialist theme. There are also some dark romance and sensual aspects, so please be comfortable with that. The role might call for an English accent, or maybe a pseudo-European one, but this is not necessary at all; I feel it might be a nice touch. What is required is the ability to portray a dark, sophisticated, and vulnerable character. The character should be over the age of 25, but no older than 45. Aside from that, feel free to include in your audition whatever you feel the character ought to be. Use your creativity and have fun with it!
Audition lines:
*Please send at least two takes of each*
Line 1: From Edgar Allan Poe's tale The Mask of the Red Death
"And Darkness and Decay, and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all. "
Line 2:
"At first, all I did was sleep for days on end while the sun and moon moved across the sky. I fell into a deep, mournful rest that felt beyond sleep, and then I felt as if I was falling into a void and becoming it. Now I feel empty, like nothingness, and that is exactly what I am."
Line 3:
"The sun will soon rise. And as I begin to reflect on the events that have brought me to this precise moment, there is stillness in the air."
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
The story will be provided in PDF format to the chosen VA. We'll discuss about the method and system for doing the recording.
Auditions should be sent to emersondrayce@gmail.com.
*All submissions must be in MP3 format, clear and trimmed, and of good quality with no background noise, echoes, or distortions*
The deadline is Friday, January 20th, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
I want to thank you all for taking the time to participate in this. I admire the voice acting community greatly, and I will have more projects coming up, so please send a demo reel if you want. I'm always looking for voices to suit the characters I've written.
I'd also like to apologize in advance if I don't get a chance to respond to everyone because of time constraints, but each submission will be thoroughly reviewed. I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone.
Thank you very much.
