I don't know if this should be related or not to the discussion board, but what's your home recording setup? Mines look like this Since I'm doing video game reviews, this is pretty much it and it's pretty much quick to set up. The microphone that's wrapped in tissues is an AT2020, behind it is an Auralux Mudguard to help with background noise, but I'm missing a pop filter. My brother have one but he's hogging it right now for his Youtube content so I'll probably have to buy one from a music store in the next town over once I do some research on what pop filter I can get for cheap.

I recorded a video a long while ago that briefly shows my recording setup (too lazy to take a picture): youtu.be/Ai1BU8BIfQo

Another AT2020 buddy! I'm running the same, an AT2020 +, a single screen popfilter and a macbook air.
I drove myself insane doing research over mudguards where reviews gave sparkling reviews of perfect isolation, and then horrid reviews of dampening natural vocal range. I saw that the truly best thing to do was to install bass traps and have a properly foam-lined wall, and then I read reviews from pros who used shirts hung in a closet that said that was the truly best thing to do. Then I read all of this being dismissed by audiophile engineers.
In the end, I distance my laptop from the mic, unplug my refrigerator and turn off any other appliances while recording, and if I really need to drown out the phlegm-hawking of neighbors while brushing their teeth, then I drape myself in a blanket and pretend i'm a superhero while recording.
If i'm able to begin making somewhat of a return on VA, then i'll invest in something further, but I think right now I should be somewhat decent focusing on the big concerns and fine-tuning as I need to. I even went on some audio engineer forums asking how I could make something truly soundproof within my apartment so that I could have complete freedom to practice yelling. Sadly, I don't think that will be possible unless I suspend an acoustically treated packing box from my ceiling like some kind of acrobatic recording attempt.
By the way, what are the major benefits you've found by use of the tissue? Is it mostly for background noise or for unwanted speaking noises?

I'm a fellow AT2020+ lad. I've got a windshield over it, but it was still popping whenever I pronounced my P's and B's. I've ended up putting 3 of my girlfriends stockings over the mic, which seems to be a lot more convenient than an awkward pop filter. Much easier for when you're on the move as well.

This is what my current setup looks like. I have an external monitor sitting in front of me with my computer behind a blanket shield - as it makes too much noise.

I also have an AT2020. The USB kind. I have it on a spider mount attached to a desk boom arm. I used to use a pop filter until I kinda learned you dont really NEED it for plosives, but its good protection for more high end/sensitive mics. Now I just have a foam cover.
I'm actually working on doing a complete overhaul to my current set up. I don't really have great sound proofing in my room here, so I'm going to clean out the whole place, get some heavy moving blankets to nail to the ceiling and make some soft "walls" around me. Also looking to upgrade to an actual XLR mic, like a AKG C214 with a Scarlett solo to go with. Problem right now is everything I'm looking at would run a cool 500 USD, which is a lot for me to drop. But I'm saving up and should get my tax return soon.
Will update with pics if things pan out.

Shure SM7b < Cloudlifter Preamp < ART Tube MP PReamp < Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 Audio Interface
Right now I'm using a quiet ASUS gaming laptop that has a SSD, so its pretty quiet, and recording out of an open closet. I just removed the windscreen off my SM7b and noticed a considerable difference in the sound, I'm liking it much better now. After my booth is done I'll probably get another microphone. Ive been suggested a CAD E100S or AT4040, I'm open to suggestions!

Just finished my setup: AT2020 into a Scarlett 2i2. The blue foam is from a single king-sized mattress topper you can get from places like Bed Bath and Beyond for the same price as a single 24" square studio foam. It's easy to cut so you can shape it up however you need it. For hanging, I used those Command picture-hanging strips (heavy duty for the big pieces and the smallest ones for the small squares). Some foam strips and squares could just be wedged into one another and they've been holding themselves into place for well over a week now; the one on the ceiling isn't held by anything since it's just slightly wider than the ceiling. I also use Sony MDR-7506 headphones to monitor recordings. The cable is just long enough to reach my interface, but I'll be buying an extension cable so it can run underneath the door and give me a bit more freedom to move my head. I have to walk to and from my computer a lot to check audio levels and listen to recordings, but the overall result is too good to care. I just hope it doesn't get too hot once summer roles around!

Here is my desk in its current state. This is where I write, perform, edit, and game. Considered tidying it up first, but figured candid made more sense for this thread. Out the window behind me is the Nordheide Panzerwiesse in Munich, upon which it is currently snowing because of course it's snowing in mid-April in Bavaria.
