Hello,
My name is Daniel and I have recently come across this website.
After hearing alot of animated shows in german and hearing the outstanding performance the voice actors managed to do, I was honestly interested in becoming a voice actor myself and I did find the time for it now, that I have gratuated from my degree as IT-specialist. And getting some training and feedback here, might be helpful.
The name for this account is the name of my personal website that is still under construction. If Moderators find that it is unfitting, I will be changing the display name.
So far I do not have alot in terms of microphone set-up besides a pair of Singstar PS2 microphones and a built in webcam-microphone (which delivers better sound but far from studio quality). I am eyeing for a "Samson Meteor" Mic, as it's not too expensive and has decent reviews on Amazon. Has anyone used this one before? Is it suitable for a beginner getting into voice acting?
Edit: I completely forgot, since this might be some things to point out. I am fluent in the german and english language, though I might run into a word which I have never heard before. As for an accent, I can't really say if I have one, but my voice is far from the "bavarian accent" most people associate with germans.

Hello and welcome! Good to see another IT guy here. The name is fine. Has a nice ring to it. May we call you Teufel? The Samson Meteor seems like a nice microphone for a beginner. Cheap and cheerful. You'll get some canny recordings, providing you do a bit of editing and post-processing. However, if you're confident you're going to be doing this a lot (and not just till September) I'd try and buy something a bit better. I started on the Blue Snowball (linked you to Amazon, for your convenience) and got myself a few roles, before deciding to buy the AT2020USB+. The AT has landed me more roles, and sounds a lot better, making me wish I'd bought it first. But, if you want to just get started and grab something more affordable, I totally understand. Good luck, have fun!

Welcome to the Club! Glad to have you here!
I second...well, everything The Uncertain Man said!
Glad to have more IT people getting into VO. And I too started on the Blue Snowball, before eventually moving on to the AT2020USB+. I love it, it picks up so much more, sounds clearer, and not a bad price point either.

Hey another I.T. person. Yay!
As far as the mic, I use a blue snowball. I want to upgrade it but my wife purchased it for me when we was dating. It's hard for me to let it go. I mean I know I can just keep and record on another one but... Eventually I'll move on. I did however try a little cheap one from amazon (Neewer NW-700) one time but it was too quite for me even with the phantom power thingy that you can get with it.

Fellow I.T. specialists unite! Glad to see that some of the I.T.'s here aren't too alienated by the fact that most of us are glued to the computer screens cause I know that I somewhat am.
Hope to see you grow as a VO artist and have fun along the way!
