Hey Rebekah, that's a positive way to look at it. Hi LadyStardust, I wasn't referring to VAC. I'm new to VAC here and on Discord, but I thinks it's great. I was referring to auditions and projects I've encountered where all communications and interactions within and for the project are done solely through Discord. Kind of what cbdroege said on page 1 of this discussion but obviously said it better than I. lol

I had a feeling that's what you meant. I've had quite a few projects that run solely through discord, and all official communication is run through the same channel as the "general chat", so it's a difficult choice of muting the server to stop getting hit with notifications, or get slammed with notifications and not miss important info (if it isn't lost in the chaos).
I agree, though. The VAC Discord is very well run, has a lot of boards for various topics, and everyone is great at sticking to what goes where.

Thank you, it was. Maybe I'm old skool, but I prefer to send and receive emails about the jobs I've been hired for or I can easily miss what is going on.

I've seen way too many auditions where the lines are super generic, or even worse, I've seen the whole "say something you think would fit". I shouldn't know your character better than you. The other one is nowadays how it's mandatory to have a Discord. I don't see what's wrong with e-mail.

I completely agree with you on project Discords, actually. Being that I already admin the VAC Discord, it's simply too much to keep up with a bunch of other servers. I'd much prefer to receive scripts and other important communications through email.
That being said, I don't mind it if people wish to have a project server for those who do wish to socialize with the rest of the cast and such, but it should be optional rather than a requirement for getting/sending lines.

Ok, this is a bit of an odd one, but I don’t like Discord being a must for projects. I can understand why, but it can seem odd. I’m not trying to be sassy, I’m just genuinely curious, is it that hard to just email some lines to a VA and they can email them back?
