I Am A(n): Professional Voice Actor, Audio Engineer

Hi there. Before Covid, a surprising amount of my auditions were done at local recording studios in Manhattan.
Once Covid hit, I was still receiving my MP3 auditions, but was no longer getting any in-person ones and making ends meet got very difficult.
I would now like to apply for unemployment but I am unsure how to do this as as freelance voice actor. My agent informed me that they are not my employer and I am not legally entitled to their federal EIN number.
Would I apply using my social security number as an independent contractor? What sort of information would I need to provide? When they ask for a reason - will the above reason about losing half of my auditions due to covid be sufficient, do you think?
I was just hoping someone here may have some advice for me in this regard. Thank you!

You will need to create a new MILogin for Citizens account before you can create or access your MiWAM account. Depends on the state. Here in MI, they didn't follow anything up. All I had to do was answer some questions online every week. Good documentation will be a major benefit in case you are called in for an audit. I have seen companies actually attempt to get someone kicked off their UI. In one case the guy was laid off but his wife owned a florist shop and the employer tried claiming he was self-employed.
