So I have 2 sets of heaphones I use:
Bopman overear headphones
Sennheiser HD280Pro
I use my PC for playback (3.5) because I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen as my usb interface and the 1/4" gives me issues in regards to low volume playback. This happens regardless of which headphones I use. I have to have all my volume levels at max to have a conversational level volume for playback with the 1/4" port on the Scarlett 2i2.
A lot of artists have reccomended the Sennheiser 280s but even with my 3.5 mm jack on my computer the 280s sound like hot garbage compared to my cheap Bopmans. If the 280s are a popular headset as I seem to find. I really worry my audtions because they sound way worse through the 280s.
Should I force myself to get used to the 280? Should I be using the 1/4" port on my scarlett vs the 3.5 on my pc even though each make my auditions sound incredibly worse than using my Bopmans with a PC playback?
Please advise...thanks!

Not sure how long you have to keep the phones on your head because what I use gets a little heavy after say 15-30 minutes of continued usage. However, I can't say enough about one of the industry standards, SONY PRO MDR-7506. Not only are they pretty close to FLAT/NEUTRAL but they're only like $100! They been used in studios for years and I've used multiple pairs for at least 15 if not 20. The pads wear out but you can easily replace them with OEMs or now there's a company or two that make softer ones. Google them or check YouTube. One of the industry standards. To me, one of the best pieces of gear I've ever bought. '-)
