As the title suggests, I'd like to have youtube videos disabled in people's signatures. Or at least be given the option to turn them off.
At times clicking on Recent Posts leads to a rather irritating loading time, and if someone has made a series of posts then it becomes harder to look past 10 videos of their demo reel, which could have simply been a less invasive link.

I agree with you on this! However, I can't seem to find anything in Proboards admin settings with an option to disable this. If you know of a workaround, feel free to let me know.

From what I can gather that might be a global setting for all videos across the site. That might be a bit awkward. Might be worth asking Proboards and getting proper help. Either that or enforce it in the rules.

Yes, the issue then is that it will affect all the videos posted as completed projects, etc. I will simply edit the rules to include an addendum of no embedded videos.

Overall, this seems like the best solution -- but just one question: anytime I've tried to put in a link to a YouTube video in my signature (my demo reel, say), it *automatically* embeds and I haven't found a way around that. Anyone know how to put it in as a text link?

Hmmm...You're absolutely right.
The plot thickens.
I tried using a bit of html to make a hyperlink -
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cYdRUbAtss&t=5396s">My demo</a> But that sadly doesn't work in the signature.
~~EDIT~~
Got it! You have to use this;
My demo
If we add that to the rules everyone will be able to use it.
