Hello!
Would it be possible to archive the casting threads that have already closed? It's a bit difficult to find the open threads when there are so many closed calls near the top of each forum. I imagine this will be even more difficult as the forum grows.

I love this idea, but we're currently really short on staff (just posted an application!) and I'm worried it would be yet another thing to add for them to do. I would love it if there were a way for the original poster to auto-close their thread to where it gets grayed out or something to that effect, but for now, the best I can think of is having them add [CLOSED] or [CAST] to their thread title

Maybe have an auto-archive job run for threads that haven't had a post in x-days? I'm not sure if this board's software supports it, but I've seen it on as a tool in forums. If it is automated, then it wouldn't have to be on a mod's shoulders. Content creators would have to be a bit more proactive for their long running projects, but that would prevent abandoned threads from getting necro'd.

It's usually better to have real people handle those things though since automated scripts and such can malfunction. Plus since this is on ProBoards it's not like they can access the files directly if something does go wrong, as it's not their own personal hosting.
It is still a nice idea for them to add something like that in the future. It did help the VAA out a lot when we had those there, no one was really even assigned to them we just took it upon ourselves and moved stuff there within a certain amount of time.

We need a code-savvy person on our admin team who is good at finding an implementing proboards scripts---maybe I'll put out a call for this after moderator apps are done...

Alright, one of our new mods actually volunteered to assist with this, so the board has been implemented (it will be a locked section closed off to new posting, but can still be viewed by all members in case someone needs to go back and reference their archived thread for whatever reason.) It may be a slow change overall but should be a little bit easier with five new moderators on board.

Yeah will be a bit slow but now that it's here it should help clean those sections up a lot ^^ (especially with more of us around )

For the sake of cleanliness vs. clarity, would you like me to leave a "This Thread Has Moved" message for each moved Archive Thread, or just let it be moved and thus empty up the audition boards?
Right now I've been doing the latter, but only moving threads where it is super clear that all activity should be ceased (IE it is CLOSED and the last post was 1-2 months ago). I just want to make sure this is the most efficient method.

I personally think the latter option is cleaner, if only for audition boards. The audition boards are on the slow side. Keeping the "moved" messages will crowd out open threads on the first page, and are visually cumbersome to sift through when looking for projects. Archived threads aren't going to be visited often, so I don't see a huge reason for a redirect to remain.

I agree, I don't think a "this thread has moved" message needs to be left behind for archiving threads. There should be a separate option to send a PM to the original poster when moving threads. If you're concerned an OP might not know why their thread vanished, it might be worthwhile to send out a friendly (and super short) "form letter" PM when archiving threads just as a heads up what happened and to let you know if it wasn't meant to be closed or something.

You can probably have a PM auto sent for moderation actions, with a link to the new thread.

I just want to make sure this is the most efficient method. "This thread has moved" messages defeat almost the entire purpose of having this feature because it still means clutter on the audition boards. I only check the box for this message if I'm moving a thread that was posted in the wrong section. I would wait until a project has been officially closed for at least two weeks before archiving, by the way (because people who auditioned for the project will likely go back and try to find the thread to see who was cast, etc.)
