I booked my first role about 6 months ago. Since then i've booked about a dozen or so roles, one that even paid a little. I use to have no problem jumping right in to character and giving a believable performance. For the past month or so I don't know why but i've been having trouble getting into character. I created characters with believable reads for the auditions and book the roles but then when it comes time to record the actual lines it's like I can't reconnect to the exact same character. Or i'll feel like it's the right character and record all my lines only to go back and listen and hear that the voice is different. Like I said this just started happening about a month ago. I love voice acting but lately it's like i'm so focused on getting and staying in character that my deliveries are starting to suffer as well. Any advice from people who have over come this or veteran voice actors would be very much appreciated.
*UPDATE* Almost forgot about this post. Since posting this I went back and studied the fundamentals and realized a couple things. Firstly I realized I had alot going on in all parts of my life which forced me to work on voice acting not when I was inspired but rather only when I had time. Which was usually when I was completely exhausted. It kind of put a strain on my creativity. Secondly being so stressed and exhausted I wasn't able to properly feel the character and emotions that I had created when I was auditioning. Voice acting in my opinion is something that must be done consciously and with real feeling. If your not doing both, your performance will most likely suffer. If anyone is having trouble like I was, I highly recommend first considering if maybe something in your life is appling to much pressure. Remember it's okay to take a break and get your self right mentally and emotionally. Hope this helps someone.
